Lightyear to Stream on Disney+ This August

By Jessica Lerner

Disney and Pixar’s Lightyear will be available to stream on Disney+ beginning Aug. 3.

Lightyear, an origin story for Buzz Lightyear, follows the famed Space Ranger after he and his crew are stranded on a dangerous planet 4.2 million light-years from Earth.

A crew of eager recruits and Buzz’s endearing robot cat companion, Sox, join him as he searches for a means to return home through space and time. But unfortunately, the entrance of Zurg, a commanding presence with an army of ruthless robots and a shadowy goal, complicates circumstances and endangers the mission.

“Lightyear looks amazing on the big screen, of course, but we are so excited to bring it to Disney+,” said Angus MacLane, who helmed the film, in a statement. “We devoted years of our lives to this film, and we are so proud of it. We want to share it with as many people as possible. Disney+ not only gives more fans an opportunity to see Lightyear, it gives us all the means to see it again and again.”

The film features the voices of Chris Evans, Uzo Aduba, Peter Sohn, Keke Palmer, Taika Waititi, Dale Soules and James Brolin, among others.
