It’s Friday: Play Postseason #Moundball on Twitter

By Karen Fratti

instaschedpostseasonNormally, Thursdays belong to the ladies and “Scandal,” but this week sports fans took over. Between Thursday Night Football and post-season baseball, it’s all about the games. Especially the MLB, which has always painted “Postseason” on the sidelines, but now acts as an easily recognizable hashtag.

The MLB is all over social media, whether it’s to goad fans or share the day’s long schedule. And then there’s @MoundballMLB, an official MLB account dedicated to the sideline betting game usually reserved for grandpas and very old-school baseball fans. Yet, 9,000 followers are ready to waste the day:

If you play along during the live game, the MLB is giving away MLB shop gift certificates, free trials to MLB TV, hoodies, and if the “umpire lands the ball perfectly on the pitcher’s plat during any World Series game, someone will win $1,000.”

All you have to do is tweet #moundball along with the Twitter accounts of the teams. You have to wait for the half-inning mark, when the ump throws the ball towards the pitcher. It has to land on the mound and not roll off onto the grass. It might be the most ridiculous and enjoyable Twitter game I’ve ever seen (and a good way to beef up followers on the respective teams’ accounts and social ratings during the game).

Why would you do anything else at work on a Friday afternoon? You’re welcome. And remember: watch out for those Giants in postseason.
