Infographic: Radical Changes in Media Consumption Habits Not Slowing Down

‘Game of Thrones’ was already the most pirated TV show in history before the first four episode of the current season were leaked. According to a new report commissioned by CyberLink (the company behind PowerDVD and PhotoDirector) and carried out by YouGov, piracy is perhaps more widespread than one would think:

  • 27% of surveyed individuals freely admitted to or considered illegally downloading and consuming media
  • 21% of Americans have no remorse about consuming media content illegally
  • 55% state that their remorse goes away if they have paid for the downloaded content in the past
  • And a whopping 67% are feel comfortable downloading content if it’s not for commercial use

The piracy research is part of a larger report on the radical changes in consumers’ media consumption habits. CyberLink released the findings at NAB. Below, an infographic with highlights from the study:
