Hulu to Stream 2022 Essence Festival

Hulu subscribers can join in the fun at this year’s Essence Festival. The streaming platform announced it would be the official livestream destination for the music festival, which takes place in New Orleans June 30-July 3.

Select programming, including panel discussions and musical performances, will be available to Hulu SVOD subscribers at no additional cost. The Essence Fest Primetime Livestream starts July 1 until July 3, 7:00-11:59 PM CT.

The Walt Disney Company will be the exclusive sponsor. Those attending the festival will have access to exclusive screenings, entertainment, panels and interact with Walt Disney’s other brands, including ABC, ABC News, Disney+, Disneyland Resort, Disney Television Studios, ESPN, FX, Freeform, Hulu, Marvel Studios, National Geographic and more.

This year’s music festival lineup includes Nicki Minaj, Janet Jackson, New Edition and The Isley Brothers. Other musical acts include The Roots, Method Man, City Girls, WizKid, Beenie Man, Stephanie Mills, Lucky Dae and a tribute to Patti LaBelle. Kevin Hart will kick off the festivities with his stand-up special Reality Check on June 30.

Essence Festival started in 1995 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Essence magazine, targeted primarily toward African-American women. It soon expanded to become the biggest Black culture and music event in the United States.
