HuffPo and BBTV Launch News Network on YouTube

Broadband TV and The Huffington Post announced a new digital news site, Outspeak, yesterday. Outspeak will be available on YouTube and on HuffPo. According to the announcement, “a multi-million dollar investment” has been made to develop the brand for creators. Content creators will be privy to BBTV’s production suites, “creator tools, solutions and services, including partner experience, promotion, production and technology, which include VISO Catalyst, BBTV’s proprietary technology platform.” Jimmy Maymann, CEO of HuffPo, said in a statement that:

YouTube has over one billion monthly users, reaches more than 80% of U.S. millennials, and has over 300 minutes of new content uploaded every minute. This partnership will help us tap into that scale. We have ambitious plans to create a network of thousands of video content creators and generate billions of video views by the end of next year. But beyond pure scale, we are excited to also offer unprecedented access to premium distribution and co-production opportunities across The Huffington Post, which we hope will help us to develop the next generation of YouTube content stars.

The deal is focused on gathering video creators, sort of like the Huffington Post did with bloggers, and giving them a space to share their content. Creators can go directly to outspeak.tv to get started and HuffPost and BBTV plan on reaching out to partners directly, too. Shahrzad Rafati, founder and CEO of BroadbandTV said:

We’re giving a voice to everyone, in the hope to entertain, inform and inspire. BBTV is building the strongest premium brands in online video, to develop the industry and take it to a new level for consumers, content creators, and the advertising community. Our combined efforts to put news in the hands of millennials has the potential to change news as we know it.

Outspeak joins BBTV’s roster as a news site, in addition to TGN, the largest YouTube gaming network, Opposition, a hip hop network, HooplaKidz, a family entertainment network, and the EDM network WIMSIC.
