sansa_jon1.0Although there still wasn’t as much engagement around Game of Thrones’s showdown between Jon Snow and Ramsey Bolton last night as there was for the NBA Finals, the series is still boosting engagement around HBO Now, it’s OTT platform.

According to Amobee, a marketing technology platform, since season 6 began, around 40 percent of all HBO Now content engagement directly talked about Game of Thrones It’s the biggest driver for viewers to purchase the standalone service. And they like it, too. Well, sort of. On June 20, sentiment was 34 percent positive, 48 percent neutral, and 18 percent negative. Amobee read the crash of the HBO Now’s  app crash mid-episode as positive since it raised the profile of the app. Everyone seems to want in on Game of Thrones and the app, so it’s a “double win,” according to their analysts.

Still HBO and Jon Snow had nothing on LeBron last night. Overall there were 480,528 tweets using the #GameofThrones or # GoT hashtags, but 1,071,918 around #NBAFinals.
