Fox Nation to Release First Original Film

By Jessica Lerner

The first original movie from Fox Nation, a direct-to-consumer streaming service from Fox News Media, is set to be released next month, marking the platform’s foray into in-house movie production.

On Sept. 1, The Shell Collector, a feature film based on a best-selling book by author Nancy Naigle, will premiere. The streaming service will release three more original movies over the following year, with the next release timed to coincide with the holiday season.

“Since launching less than four years ago, Fox Nation has established itself as a go-to destination for lifestyle and entertainment programming. I’m thrilled to share our expansion into film production and Nancy Naigle’s The Shell Collector is the perfect fit for our first title,” said John Finley, evp of development, in a statement.

The Shell Collector, starring Caitlin Clark, Christopher Russell and Jennifer Higgin, will tell the story of widow mother-of-two Amanda Whittier as she makes new friends in their small seaside town to move on after the death of her husband. Throughout the voyage, three friends find support in the strangest of places, learn about a love that is stronger than their suffering and experience heart healing in ways that none of them could have imagined or hoped for.
