It was a messy pre-Thanksgiving for the Food Network’s Giada De Laurentiis, who cut her finger during the airing of “Thanksgiving Live” Saturday, but still found a way to keep her social media fans up-to-date on her condition.
The show—which is very social media savvy featuring viewer tweets and Skype questions—was going just fine until De Laurentis sliced her finger while cutting a turkey roll during commercial break.
“Anything can happen…and anything did,” host Alton Brown told viewers upon returning from commercial break at 1:41pmET, informing them Giada cut herself and had to be removed from the premises.
The will to inform her social media followers couldn’t stop Giada: punctured finger and all, she still tweeted to her fans a little over an hour later.
Looks like I may be getting stitches “@amycpeckham: @GDeLaurentiis hope your finger is ok”

Host Alton Brown had a little fun at Giada’s expense, informing a social viewer that they found their co-star’s finger…in the stuffing.
@NancyMacLellan @GDeLaurentiis We did locate the end of Giada’s left index finger in the stuffing. Rushing to hospital now.

The Thanksgiving finger-frenzy reached it’s peak on Instagram when De Laurentiis posted the before and after photo.
