Facebook improves its 'live stream' widget

By Cory Bergman

Facebook has rolled out a few welcome additions to its live stream widget, which allows users to engage in a real-time conversation alongside a live event — usually a live video stream. Probably the biggest complaint of the old widget is it published every chat comment straight to the respective user’s Facebook wall, which can get a little overwhelming. The new widget makes it an option.

Here’s a 60 Minutes live chat using the updated widget. You can see the checkbox under the form in the upper right. Also, Facebook has added the ability for all posts to be seen in real-time by other viewers, and support for multiple live streams on one website that can link status updates to their respective pages.

The widget is available here.
