New Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Trailer Reintroduces Evil to Middle-Earth

It wouldn’t be Comic-Con without the release of new trailers, and Prime Video rose to the occasion and then some with the latest The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power trailer.

In the trailer, the characters enjoy relative peace, but soon they find themselves confronting the long-feared re-emergence of evil in Middle-Earth.

The elven warrior Galadriel and a mysterious young person who might be the antagonist Sauron are both heavily displayed in the trailer.

This epic drama, set thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books, centers on J.R.R. Tolkien’s famous Second Age of Middle-earth’s history.

The eight-part series will take viewers to several places, including the elf realms of Lindon and Eregion, the dwarven realm of Khazad-dûm, the Southlands, the Northernmost Wastes, the Sundering Seas and the island kingdom of Nmenór.

The series premieres exclusively on Prime Video on Friday, Sept 2.

Amazon paid $250 million in the book’s rights and $1 billion in the show’s five seasons of production. Eight of the first season’s episodes were filmed in New Zealand, the location of all prior live-action films based in Middle-earth. For the second season, however, the production will relocate to the United Kingdom.
