Stranger Things 4 may be breaking ratings records, but even the Netflix series isn’t above making errors.
Series creators, the Duffer brothers, told Variety they will likely go back and rectify a continuity error made in Episode 2 about Will’s (Noah Schnapp) birthday, which had already been established as March 22.
To fix this, they may retcon Will’s birthday to May 22, as “‘May’ can fit in Winona’s mouth” in the Season 2 episode where Will’s mother Joyce (Winona Ryder) mentions the date.
Matt and Ross Duffer told the news outlet it was “awful to contemplate” that none of the characters, including Will’s mother, remembered his birthday.
“It’s too sad!” Matt told Variety. “And it doesn’t make any narrative sense. But we were talking about it yesterday, and I think we’re going to George Lucas that.”
But, it wouldn’t be the first time.
“We have George Lucas’d things also that people don’t know about,” he added, though he didn’t mention other instances.
