DISH Subscribers Can Skip Through the Super Bowl for the Ads

Proving that all technology can be used for good and evil, DISH announced today that it’s going to let subscribers use the “Reverse Autohop” feature for the Super Bowl. This is good.

Give people what they want. On Monday, DISH subscribers will be able to access the DVR’d Super Bowl and just skip through the game to the commercials so they’ll be able to keep up with the Twitter jokes, social shares, and think pieces on the commercials (Slate is bound to have a few about that Doritos spot, right?)


Bill Koenigsberg, president, CEO and founder of Horizon Media said in a statement:

We have several clients running Super Bowl ads this year, and DISH’s creative technology means more people will see those ads. Making these entertaining ads ‘appointment watching’ after the game puts the brands front and center for an even wider audience. Regardless of who wins the game, that’s a win for advertisers and consumers.

Normally, subscribers to the Hopper® Whole-Home HD package can use Auto-Hop to skip the commercials for their DVR’d shows.

Remember this: 2015 is the year the Super Bowl officially became all about the ads.
