Soccer player David Beckham is bringing his life story to Netflix.

The streaming platform announced it began production on a docuseries about the globally known football star. The project will explore Beckham’s working-class upbringing in East London and his journey to becoming one of the most well-known athletes.

The documentary will include never-before-seen personal archive footage; interviews with Beckham, his friends and loved ones; and key figures who have been instrumental in his development both on and off the field.

Academy Award-winning director Fisher Stevens (Palmer, We Go Green) will serve as director and executive producer. John Battsek (One Day in September, Searching for Sugar Man) is also on board to executive produce.

Beckham is the first English football player to win league titles in four countries: England, Spain, France and the U.S. His career began with Manchester United, where he made his debut at the age of 17. He won 6 Premier League titles and joined the LA Galaxy in 2007.

Beckham retired in 2013 after a 20-year career, winning 19 major trophies. He is currently the president and co-owner of Inter Miami CF and the co-owner of Salford City.
