Conference will explore local news in the Pacific NW

By Mark Briggs

A year ago, Seattle was busy with seemingly one “death of journalism” conversation after another as the Seattle P-I announced plans to go online-only. Thankfully, we’ve moved on and Seattle has become something of a hotbed for local news innovation.

So it is an appropriate setting for a 3-day conference, “Re-imagining News & Community in the Pacific Northwest,” that kicks off tomorrow at the University of Washington. It is hosted by the folks behind Journalism That Matters and is sure to have a much more optimistic tone than last year’s events. The hashtag to follow will be #JTMPNW.
