CNN weaves brand into Twitter debate conversation

Trendistic is a handy tool to measure the effectiveness of hashtags during broadcasts — or any trending topics on Twitter. During last night’s Republican debate on CNN, the hashtag #CNNdebate topped the trending topics list and peaked out at 1.38% of all tweets sent at 9 p.m. ET, according to Trendistic data:

Searches for the words debate, Republicans and GOPdebate didn’t come close to that number, which shows how CNN was able to weave its brand into the Twitter conversation. CNN intermittently displayed the hashtag in the bottom-left of the screen.
