Clear Channel Outdoor is honoring John Wooden, one of the greatest basketball coaches of all time, by sharing his thoughts (“Woodenisms”) with motorists across the state of California. The outdoor advertising company has developed a pro bono DOOH campaign of “Woodensims” as a tribute to the recently deceased coach.

Clear Channel is using the digital out-of-home campaign to thank Coach Wooden, who guided UCLA to an unprecedented 10 national championships in a span of 12 years, for his inspirational leadership. Memorable quotes from Wooden appear on more than 70 digital billboards throughout Los Angeles.

“Coach was a personal inspiration to my life, as I grew up in Southern California and as a high school sports coach. We saw an opportunity here as a company to honor someone who has meant so much to this community and the sporting world,” Layne Lawson, area director of public affairs for Clear Channel Outdoor, said in a press release. “Using our displays to keep Coach Wooden’s philosophy and wisdom fresh in the minds of Angelenos is just one way for us to give something back to our Southern California community.”

The campaign was launched last week and will continue through the end of the month.
