The local search/directory site CitySquares announced today that it has acquired Yokel, a shopping directory of local stores. Yokel users can enter a search term for a product — like “gas grills” or “baby strollers” — along with a location, and the site serves up a list of local businesses that sell it. “This is an innovative idea and will be a great asset to CitySquares, because it not only connects neighborhood customers to the businesses in their area but also to the specific products sold in each store,” explains a CitySquares blog post.
By the way, CitySquares says it expects to be cash-flow positive in 90 days or so, and the company has plans to hire more employees.
