City Paper editor to join DC news startup

By Cory Bergman

Erik Wemple, the editor of Washington City Paper, will become the editor of Allbritton’s upcoming DC news site. Wemple says former WashingtonPost.com editor Jim Brady, who’s heading up the new site, “wants the Washington City Paper voice and feel and sense of authority about local stuff.”

If you haven’t heard the news over the last couple months, Allbritton is working on a new, yet-to-be-named venture in the DC market. The site will take on the Washington Post in local news on the web, combining the assets of Politico, WJLA and Newschannel 8 along with as many as 50 new employees — one of the boldest new ventures by a local TV group in recent years. Stay tuned…. (Photo from Washington City Paper.)
