CBS Radio site launches live video chatroom

It’s not too often we talk about a radio station website doing something cool. That’s probably because they don’t usually involve video or cross into an area that might overlap TV efforts. This is cool though. 670thescore.com launched a new chatroom today that shows the webcams of those chatting, including the DJ booth that’s on the air. They’re only doing it with their morning and afternoon shows right now. How about a TV station do this and put the chatters on-air?

WSCR-AM 670 THE SCORE TEAMS WITH PALTALK GIVING LISTENERS NEW WAYS TO INTERACT WITH THE STATION THROUGH LIVE ONLINE VIDEO CHAT COMMUNITIES

CHICAGO, IL — 670 The Score has partnered with Paltalk (www.paltalk.com), the premier real-time, video-based community pioneering the social-casting movement, allowing listeners to participate in live, interactive video streams of the station’s popular weekday sports talk shows, including The Mike North Morning Show (6-10AM) and The Boers and Bernstein Show (2-6PM).

Listeners can see the on-air personalities live in the studio, as well as other listeners who are streaming video of themselves. In addition, listeners will be able to interact with the hosts and each other through text, audio and video. The free live broadcast can be accessed on the station’s website, www.670thescore.com.

“We have been aggressive in implementing digital technologies into our everyday operations and our listeners have responded to all our initiatives with great enthusiasm,” said Paul Agase, Vice President and General Manager, 670 The Score. “Of all the ways our listeners have to connect with the station, live video streaming brings an entirely new level of engagement which we are excited to offer.”

“Through video it is now possible to create a more developed sense of community among a station’s fan base, and we are excited that The SCORE is one of the first stations to adopt our platform and extend its capabilities to its loyal and enthusiastic listeners,” said Joel Smernoff, President and COO of Paltalk. “We look forward to continuing to break new ground by merging traditional broadcasting, social networking and video chat.”
