Assignment Editor (2), KING-TV

KING TV, the number one station in the Pacific Northwest and a Belo
Corp. subsidiary, is seeking two Assignment Editors. In this highly
competitive and aggressive broadcast and web market, successful
candidates will be responsible for generating unique content for KING
5 NEWS and KING5.COM. Must possess the ability to enterprise and
help lead the editorial direction of multiple stories while focusing
on the accuracy of KING content. Must take ownership of stories and
work closely with reporters, show producers and web producers through
story completion. Will also possess a fundamental understanding of
multi-platform media including on-air, on-line, and cable. Will act
as liaison to web producers when working developing news and will
help insure the accuracy of web content and breaking news alerts.

Responsible for planning and executing news coverage; including story
set up and assignment. Monitor wires, websites, phones, scanners, and
make beat checks. Dispatch crews to breaking news stories and post
breaking news alerts on-line. Continually monitor newstips while
updating the assignment list.

College degree with minimum two years newsroom desk experience
desired; preferably in a top 20 market. Excellent written and oral
communication skills, ability to work under pressure, good
organizational skills, solid news judgment, and ability to work
independently and make quick decisions.
