By Natan Edelsburg

Last week the Latin Grammy’s dominated social TV on multiple fronts. Celebrity selfies were only one part of a major social TV win for Univision. Here are the highlights from the event including an interview with David Beck, Univision’s SVP and GM of social media.

“Univision Network also ranked as the No. 1 Social TV network on Nov. 21 across all of broadcast and cable, based on unique authors Tweeting about programs on the network,” Univision released in a statement. “According to Nielsen SocialGuide, @LatinGRAMMYs was the most mentioned program account across all of Twitter TV.”

We asked Beck what the social TV highlights were from the night. “Our focus for the Latin GRAMMYs was to give fans the most comprehensive linear, digital, and social content experience of any of our award shows to date,” he explained. “Social storytelling across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Vine and Google+ gave fans a unique content experience that integrated seamlessly with the on-air broadcast and digital experiences including second screen executions on UVideos.”

They were also able to integrate their sponsors into the experience. “We were also excited to partner with a brand sponsor to let fans decide what behind the scenes content they would like to see-organic integrations like this, which are relevant to the content experience and resonate with our audience are a great reward to fans,” Beck told Lost Remote.

Major awards shows continue to be indicators in how the industry will be forced to innovate and invest more and more resources into using social platforms to enhance the linear and digital experiences of a network. Here are some of the further highlights from the network.

  • Fans were also able to Tweet their favorite moments and congratulate the stars throughout the “Noche de Estrellas” and the Latin GRAMMY broadcast as well by sending their questions using the hashtag #LatinGrammy.

  • Fans counted on the latest updates from the show’s social media correspondent and Univision personality, Alejandra Espinoza.

  • Viewers joined the conversation by following @UForiaMusica and @LatinGRAMMYs on Twitter as well as commenting along with others on Facebook.com/UForiaMusica and Facebook.com/LatinGRAMMYs and were updated via Instagram from @UnivisionPremios and @LatinGRAMMYs.
