Did yesterday’s NY Times story about the end of cassette audiobooks at Hachette sound familiar? That’s probably because the “funeral” mentioned in the article was featured in GalleyCat over a month ago, although the article does provide more statistical data on the cassette tape’s demise—such as the fact that, as of 2006, books on tape accounted for just 7 percent of all audiobook sales.
