Writers Largely Absent from Universal Record Database

By Jason Boog

Recently, during a Universal Record Database (URD) event in New York City, writer Mark Lamster managed to complain about his life 44 times in one minute, proudly seizing the mantle: “Most Complaints in One Minute.” The video will raise many familiar anxieties for GalleyCat readers, a long list read in the author’s manic deadpan.

The URD is a website archiving hundreds of strange feats ranging from “Fastest Consumption Of A 24-Ounce Bottle Of Breakfast Syrup” to “Fastest Time To Name Every Olympic Race Michael Phelps Has Competed In And Where He Placed.”

Sadly, there are few records about literary achievements. GalleyCat readers are urged to contribute some new reading and writing records. The all-inclusive records book has room for everybody, as long as they can figure out some bizarre corner of human activity to master. (Via FishbowlNY)
