Many smartphone users, including this GalleyCat editor, use their phones as alarmclocks. One company has created new iPhone application to play with this new wake-up style.
Here’s the scoop: “Wakeupcall.tv is a new iPhone application that turns an alarm clock into a daily two-minute video newscast set off by a jazzy retro ringtone. The creator and host of wakeupcall.tv, Andrea Jackson uses a conversational style to deliver the latest eye opening news headlines including a brief national weather forecast.”
However, most GalleyCat readers don’t need a newscaster to wake them up–they need a novelist. It occurs to us–publishers should start mixing author videos and podcasts with smartphone alarm clocks.
