Weisbach Sells True-Life Adventure (Not His Own) to Ecco

rob-weisbach-headshot.jpgSkimming through the press release on Ecco‘s acquisition of Crazy for the Storm, “the true story of an eleven year old boy… and the harrowing plane crash he survived, framed by the boy’s complicated relationship with his charismatic, adrenaline-loving father,” it wasn’t so much the plot of the memoir that caught my attention as the name of Norman Ollestad‘s agent: Rob Weisbach (left), who had left his position as the president and CEO of Weinstein Books for, as the phrase goes, “other publishing opportunities.” Even before Weinstein (and its earlier incarnation as Miramax Books), Weisbach had an impressive track record as an editor, including his own imprint at William Morrow and a VP desk at Simon and Schuster.
