Wanna Crash a PEN World Voices Party?

alain-mabanckou.jpgOK, technically speaking, you can’t really crash a party if the organizers say you can walk right in and tell you to go ahead and forward the invite to everyone you know…but still! If you’re looking for action on the literary schmoozing circuit, I suggest you get to Beauty Bar (a few blocks east of Union Square on 14th) around 9 p.m. tonight, as Congolese author Alain Mabanckou, will be heading over there as soon as he’s done taking part in an all-star Town Hall reading which, among its other charming aspects, brings Neil Gaiman and Nadine Gordimer onto the same stage for the first time. The party’s co-sponsored by Soft Skull, which publishes Mabanckou’s novel, African Psycho, as well as Guantanamo by Dorothea Dieckmann, whose first World Voices event will come Thursday evening.
