Wal-Mart Will No Longer Sell Kindles

By Dianna Dilworth

It’s not just indie book stores that are felling the pressure from Amazon. Large retailers like Wal-Mart and Target are feeling the pressure from competition with the e-commerce giant. This week, Wal-Mart follows Target to become the second big box retailer to stop selling Amazon Kindles in stores.

AppNewser has more: “In a memo sent out to store managers yesterday, Wal-Mart explains, ‘We have recently made the business decision to not carry Amazon tablets and eReaders beyond our existing inventory and purchase commitments. This includes all Amazon Kindle models current and recently announced.'”

Not all retailers have ditched the devices though. Staples and Best Buy are already carrying the new 7″ Kindle Fire HD — the first in Amazon’s new line of Kindle Fire tablets, which began shipping this month.
