Stephanie Murg files an item for mediabistro.com’s UnBeige on the increasing diversity in niche market Bibles, as featured in Daniel Radosh‘s Rapture Ready: Adventures in the Parallel Universe of Christian Pop Culture (which Emily primed you for last week). The odd thing is, with so many different varieties to choose from, one of Radosh’s sources claims, “There’s been research that has shown that over half the people who come into a Christian bookstore intending to buy a Bible, with money in their pocket, leave without one, because they get overwhelmed.”

Another source claims it’s only 48 percent, but that still seems like an awful lot of missed sales opportunities, doesn’t it? According to the same source, “the average Bible buyer takes 21 minutes to make a decision,” and says that’s four times as long as other book buyers take.
