Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s book signing demands that customers follow a strict set of guidelines. The signing will take place at Waterstone’s in Piccadilly, London on September 8th.
Anybody who brings a bag of any nature is required to check it. Phones and digital cameras will also be checked. Nobody can be photographed with the former Prime Minister. Blair will not write personal dedications. Each customer can only present a maximum of two books to be signed and what’s more, each book must be accompanied by proof that it was purchased at Waterstone’s the morning of the signing.
According to the Guardian, Tony Blair’s office issued this statement: “All arrangements are standard practice for high profile books and public figures and are similar to those used at previous events, for example with Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton, both of whom have signed their respective autobiographies at the same store in recent years.”
Blair’s memoir, A Journey has a release date of September 1st. Random House UK is printing a hardcover as well as a special red and gold edition.
Back in July, Blair’s successor, Gordon Brown announced that he has secured a book deal with Simon & Schuster. Unlike Blair, Brown will not be authoring a memoir and instead is planning on a publication on current global economic affairs. The release date is slated for November 2010.
