- Scholastic has acquired world rights to the tie-in publishing program around “The Golden Compass”, the film based on the first book in Philip Pullman‘s His Dark Materials trilogy, Northern Lights. The movie will be directed by Chris Weitz (of ABOUT A BOY FAME) and the release date is slated for November 2007.
