The June Numbers Are In, Still Up

The Association of American Publishers released its latest book sales figures this morning, showing a 4.3 percent increase for the month of June. That’s not quite as impressive as May’s 18.3 percent gain, but it’s still an increase—and, taking the long view, year-to-date sales for 2007 are still up 7.9 percent.

Next week, to be sure, the Census Bureau will inform us just how much of all this increased bookbuying our nation’s bookstores managed to miss out on.
