Over at the lifestyle blog Lifehacker, an essay entitled “The Complete Guide to Saving Money on Textbooks” suggested that readers photocopy college textbooks–spawning a debate about the ethics of photocopied books.
Here’s an excerpt: “Photocopying is simple and sometimes serves as the best option. If you invest in a large three-ring binder, you can potentially store all your textbook pages in one place. You’ll want to contact your professors before classes begin to find out what chapters you’ll be covering so you can avoid copying more pages than you need (and wasting paper in the process). This can help you consolidate your reading material into a simple, smaller, and lighter solution.”
