TED Books To Launch App For Books

By Dianna Dilworth

TED Books, the book publishing division of the TED Conference series, is launching a new iOS app through which it will sell its eBooks.

AppNewser has more: “Built by publisher and development company Atavist, the new Ted Books app will extend the functionality of TED’s eBooks by allowing authors to add audio and video to their books. The app is slated for release tomorrow and according to TED’s website, the books in the app will include: ‘rich images, audio, video and social features, along with links and documentation to provide a broader view.'”

Tom Rielly, TED fellows and community director, told PaidContent.org that the publisher will sell eBooks a la carte, as well as through a subscription model. He said: “Assuming we get enough subscribers, we are guaranteeing an author a first printing that is larger than they were used to.” (Via Laura Hazard Owen).
