Jean Feiwel, a senior vice president and publisher, wrote a letter to announce expansion plans for Swoon Reads. Henceforth, this Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group imprint will acquire and release young adult novels of all genres.
Prior to this, the executives at Swoon Reads focused exclusively on romance stories. The imprint was first launched in 2013. Projects from this division are chosen for publication through crowdsourcing.
Here’s an excerpt from Feiwel’s letter: “Swoon Reads was born out of a love for romance fiction, with an ambition to publish brilliant new voices in the young adult romance genre. Since then, our bookish community has grown into so much more, and we’ve worked with all kinds of readers and writers to publish all kinds of books. That’s why we felt that the time was right to open submissions to young adult fiction across all genres—not just romance.”
