Storytelling Night

2801_pwp_gala_new.jpgNew Yorker readers have two blockbuster storytelling events tonight. Five big-time music writers are sharing a stage tonight at the HighLine Ballroom–why hear one music writer read when you can see five?

Entitled Stories in High Fidelity, the storytelling event includes: Chuck Klosterman (Downtown Owl, Fargo Rock City), Robert Christgau (“The Dean of Music Journalism”), Dan Kennedy (Rock On: An Office Power Ballad), Rob Sheffield (Love Is A Mix Tape) and Marc Spitz (A forthcoming biography of David Bowie). For a more subdued evening, the PEN American Center is hosting a benefit for their Prison Writing Program at Parsons tonight. Poets Breyten Breytenbach and Suheir Hammad, fiction writers Colum McCann and Wesley Stace, non-fiction writer Adrian Nicole LeBlanc, and children’s book writer Susan Kuklin will all read works by prison writers in the program.
