Self-publishing site Smashwords has created a new feature to help connect authors and readers called Smashwords Alerts.
Essentially readers can sign up to get alerts if their favorite authors have a new work available. Readers who previously “favorited” an author on the site will get updates from the writers. Here is more from the Smashwords blog:
To track an author, readers simply visit any author profile page at Smashwords and click the button labeled, “Subscribe to Author Alerts.” When the author releases a new book, readers will receive an alert.
