Short and Sweet: Flash Fiction at KGB Bar

By Jason Boog

GalleyCat editors have seen all kinds of literary readings: packed auditoriums, cozy release parties, and the occasional slow and sleepy lecture.

Over the weekend, seven writers read two-page stories at the KGB Bar’s Flashers Series. The flash fiction authors included Mikael Awake, Shannan Rouss, and Marcus Jackson, all riffing off a common theme: “Bye Bye Bush.”

After the reading, GalleyCat caught up with co-founder Maaza Mengiste. The video interview above proves why short and sweet always works at a literary reading.
