See a ‘Cat in East Texas!

By Neal

In addition to co-writing this blog, I’m also a pop culture historian—well, I’ve got one book about American movies of the 1970s, The Stewardess Is Flying the Plane, under my belt, at any rate. That’s enough to get me to the occasional book festival, and on the weekend of January 19-21, I’ll be at “The Pulpwood Queens Go Hollywood!” in Marshall, Texas (about halfway between Dallas and Shrevesport, LA). The festival is organized by Kathy Patrick, who has whipped the Queens into shape as one of the nation’s most significant regional book clubs.

I’ll be on a panel with actor/memoirists Cathryn Michon and Adrienne Barbeau; other writers scheduled to make appearances include Kathi Kamen Goldmark, Karen Spears Zacharias, Doug Marlette, Mark Childress, Will Clarke, and Carolyn Turgeon. I’m taking my digital camera and snapping plenty of pictures; I know most of this blog’s readers won’t be in the area, but feel free to pass word along, okay?
