Last week, Rhonda Shearer (right, background) opened up the Art Science Research Laboratory in SoHo to celebrate the publication of Craig Silverman‘s Regret the Error: How Media Mistakes Pollute the Press and Imperil Free Speech. (That’s Silverman, making a toast in the middle of the room). Wendy Raffel, a publicist for Sterling, was awed by Shearer’s collection of Marcel Duchamp artworks on display throughout the loft. “Early on in the evening,” she emailed, “my friend asked me how many of the pieces around me I thought were original Duchamps and I laughed, not thinking any of them were originals.” Turns out it’s the largest personal collection of Duchamp originals in the world, made accessible to scholars.
