Last night, Amanda ReCupido swung by the Mysterious Bookshop for the launch of Brooklyn Noir 3: Nothing but the Truth, the latest installment in the award-winning Akashic Books Noir Series, where editors Tim McLoughlin and Thomas Adcock, along with many of the book’s contributors, mixed and mingled and discussed their neighborhood-specific loyalties to the beloved borough.

“Each anthology is the series has stories set in a distinct location within its city,” ReCupido reports, “so this, the third set of stories about Brooklyn and the first nonfiction collection in the series, includes tales about Prospect Park, Atlantic Yards, Bushwick, Brooklyn Heights, Coney Island, and Cobble Hill (to name a few). As McLoughlin notes in the book’s introduction, ‘These pieces remind us that crime is personal. It happens to us and to our neighbors… Read this book. Enjoy it. Be horrified by it. Carry it with you always. And the next time you’re watching a particularly bizarre and salacious news item on the television set in your neighborhood pub, and the guy on the next stool says, “You can’t make this shit up,” smack him with it.'”
