Scene @ Arianna Huffington’s Book Party

arianna-bookparty.jpgArianna Huffington celebrated the publication of her latest book, On Becoming Fearless: In Love, Work, and Life, last Saturday night with a party at the Upper East Side townhouse that spiritual relationship advisor/author Kathy Freston (top row, right) shares with her husband, former Viacom exec Tom Freston. Little, Brown executives Michael Pietsch and Sophie Cottrell were no doubt pleased to see the dozens of boldfaced names that came to wish their author well, like Barry Diller and Animal Fair’s Wendy Diamond, or Craigslist founder Craig Newmark and Daily Show writer Kevin Bleyer.

If I’d been quick enough with my camera when I arrived with my employer, mediabistro.com CEO Laurel Touby, and her husband, Jon Fine of Business Week, I could have snapped a picture of David Brown shaking hands with Eve Ensler, but no such luck. (I’m sure Patrick McMullan, who was hovering around all evening, managed to get one, though.) Rachel Sklar and Trey Ellis were among the Huffington Post contributors in the house, former U.S. Senator Max Cleland held court just past the main entrance, and Naomi Wolf was kind enough to introduce me to several other partygoers, including political blogger Eric Alterman. There’s a few more pictures from the evening on my Flickr photostream, and FishbowlNY correspondent Dylan Stableford has his own account of the evening as well…though his experience was a bit rockier than mine.
