Rick Riordan, a renowned children’s books author, will launch his own imprint at Disney-Hyperion called Rick Riordan Presents. The focus behind Rick Riordan Presents will be to publish mythology-inspired middle grade books.
This new venture was founded in response to the constant requests from Riordan’s fan base to have him write stories about myths from other cultures. Thus far, Riordan himself (pictured, via) has tackled Greek/Roman, Egyptian, and Norse. Stephanie Lurie, Riordan’s longtime editor, has signed on to manage this new division while Riordan will serve as the curator.
According to the press release, Riordan “sees this as an opportunity for other authors to provide their cultural expertise and unique perspectives in highly entertaining stories…Rick will review proposals and manuscripts, which must be submitted to Stephanie via literary agents, and he will provide editorial notes and endorsements for acquired projects. He will promote the books and authors via his extensive social media reach and his in-person appearances.”
