Queer Eye for the Straight Talk Express

sarah-palin-headshot.jpgIf you live in or near Park Slope, and you’re looking for some company (and some booze) with which to enjoy tonight’s vice-presidential debate, consider the Lambda Literary Foundation‘s “1st Annual Sarah Palin Book Club” party at Cattyshack (249 Fourth Ave). The party starts at 7 p.m. and promises to continue into the debate; in addition to the drinks specials, there’s a “special prize” planned for the best Palin look-alike who shows up. It’s also a fundraiser for the foundation, which sponsors the Lambda Literary Awards for all varieties of queer literature and runs an annual retreat for emerging LGBT writers—stuff that perhaps takes on some significance considering Palin’s hostility to gay-themed books.

(And, yes, we know the Straight Talk Express is McCain’s thing, not Palin’s. But it’s the best joke we had on short notice, okay? Anyway, now is the time to put blog first, not to place blame for the headlines.)
