Writer Christina Lee Zilka has organized an eBay auction to support to her friend and editorial colleague, Jennifer Derilo. The two girls (pictured) met as creative writing MFA students at Mills College, and both edit at the Kartika Review.
Derilo has been diagnosed with Hodgkins’ Lymphoma, a cancer which attacks the lymphatic system. Unfortunately, the young editor lacked health insurance. The literary auction will raise money for “team jender,” directly paying off Derilo’s medical bills.
The prizes include signed galley copies of books, as well as writing critiques from writers like Lac Su, Randa Jarrar, and Yiyun Li. Some writers offer the chance to have your name featured in a piece of writing: Thea Hillman will include the winning bidder’s name in an erotica piece.
