Publishers Embrace The View

When the Association of American Publishers finishes up its annual meeting in New York tomorrow morning, they’ll be presenting the AAP Honor to ABC’s The View because, in the words of AAP president Pat Schroeder, “despite the differences in age, background, and experience among the hosts, they are all passionate about reading, and this passion comes through every time the discussion turns to books and authors.” (This will come as news to those of us who, already in the office when the show begins, are forced to rely on YouTube clips, which put a much lesss cerebral spin on the program.) The prize comes with a $5,000 donation to charity in the show’s name, which will be going to First Book, an organization that provides books for children in low-income families.
