Mike Duncan has signed a deal with PublicAffairs. He has become well-known for creating and hosting The History of Rome podcast.
According to the publisher’s announcement, Duncan plans to write a book entitled The Storm Before The Storm. Senior editor Colleen Lawrie negotiated the deal with Waxman Leavell literary agent Rachel Vogel.
For this project, Duncan will examine Rome throughout the years 135 B.C. to 80 B.C. This book will feature his thoughts on “the beginning of the end of the Roman Republic, just before the rise of Julius Caesar, told in his wry and rollicking voice and tackling the question: if America is Rome, where are we on the historical timeline?—thus underscoring the age-old lesson that those who don’t learn history are doomed to repeat it.”
