Pizza Hut Architecture Explored in New Kickstarter Book Project

By Dianna Dilworth

Ho Hai Tran & Chloe Cahill are trying to raise $14,052 to finance an art book about the second lives of Pizza Hut’s iconic hut restaurants.

Photo book Pizza Hunt will document how these edifices have been transformed into “grocery stores, pawnshops, gospel churches, liquor stores and funeral homes, among other things.” The book will feature more than 100 former Pizza Huts from the United States to New Zealand. Here is more about the project from the project’s Kickstarter page:

The Pizza Hunt book will be a fine art object designed to complement the uniqueness of the ‘hut’ as architectural object. Each book includes a foreword by author Philip Langdon who has written for over 30 years on architecture, urban planning and design, and whose book, ‘Orange Roofs and Golden Arches’, was an invaluable resource for us when we were merely fledgling Pizza Hunters. The book will be a hardcover, cloth bound publication with premium quality paper, design by Sam Flaherty and illustrations by Christopher DeLorenzo. And just because there’s nothing like that fresh-outta-the-box feeling, the limited edition of the book comes in a custom pizza box clamshell.
