Penguin Hotline Launched For the Holidays

penguin with a phonePenguin Random House has launched the Penguin hotline for the holidays.

Hundreds of Penguin staff members will be on hand to help anyone who makes a request for book recommendations. This online project is modeled after the Butterball Turkey Hotline which invites people to call in with questions they have about preparing turkeys.

Here’s more from the website: “Tell us as much as you’d like about that special someone on your gift list who deserves the right book. Once you submit the form, our Penguin Hotline staffers will get started picking books. Note that these really are individually selected recommendations, made by real people, not algorithms. This human touch means it may take us a day—or two—to get back to you.”
