Patrick Arrasmith: A Solid Dose of Spooky for Young Readers

By Neal

Last week, we went to a reception at HarperCollins‘s Greenwillow imprint to show off some of the artwork for their upcoming children’s and YA books, and we were immediately drawn to the moody, atmospheric drawings that Patrick Arrasmith had created for Joseph Delaney‘s “The Last Apprentice” series. Luckily, Arrasmith himself was on hand to share some of the technical details of his scratchboard technique with us…

We also got to meet artists Ian Schoenherr and Christoph Niemann, and get an advance look at, among other things, some gorgeous new artwork from a recently published Kevin Henkes book, Old Bear, as well as Birds, a book he wrote with illustrations by his wife, Laura Dronzek, that comes out early next year.
