Olympic gold medalist and reality TV star Shawn Johnson has signed a book deal with Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing, for her debut young adult novel.
The Flip Side will published on June 7, coinciding with the Summer 2016 Olympic games in Brazil. The novel is about a high school sophomore named Charlie Ryland and her mission to become a star gymnast.
“I am beyond excited to share The Flip Side with teen readers,” stated Johnson. “Working with Simon & Schuster on this story brought back so many amazing memories of my teenage years, training for the Olympics, and everything it entails.”
